Arthas: The Rise of The Lich King Collector’s Edition Preview
A few month a go, I was playing World of Warcraft as usual when I notice the launcher has a promo for a special limited and signed Arthas novel that will be released next April. For you who don’t know what I’m talking about. Arthas: ROTLK is a novelization of the main character from Warcraft 3, Arthas Menethil and chronicles his journey from a young boy to adulthood. The book is written by Christie Golden who is my favorite WOW book writer. I checked the site and in a trance, I just entered my credit card number.
Flash a couple of month later, A little hitch happened (it was supposed to be sent on the 21st of April) and a very friendly and prompt customer service apologize for the late shipment due to the high demand for the book. She assured me that it will be sent soon. It was sent the next day (30th of April) and I received it 10 days later in good condition. I was using their air postal that has no tracking but there were no problem.

The first surprise when I opened the package is this; The book’s gift box. The box is only available to those ordered this limited edition and it houses the book and looks freaking awesome!

I’m sure it’s a fake leather but the gold colored emboss with slick font and topped with a Christie Golden signature at the bottom. It may be a bit too big for some shelves. But it looks just perfect on my desk.

When I opened it I was a bit giddy looking at the Lich King staring with a very arrogant and condescending smile, ready to feed Frostmourne with your soul.

There’s a Certificate of Authenticity on the inset of the cover. Doesn’t have much use except for when you want to resell the book (Not in a million years) or for gloating.

And of course, the reason why I bought this book.

3722 of 10.000 copy.
Sweet!
It is a bit more expensive (US$ 52 with international shipment, US$ 32 without shipment) but if you can buy it directly through the website, price wise it is not different if you buy the hardcover novel from the local books store (Which is around US$ 28 here in Indonesia). Considering this is a Christie Golden novel and it is about the Lich King him self, I personally think it is worth the money if you like her work.
