With the advent of globalization, how people interact with other culture has become the norm. But for a movie that shows both culture and the story shows the character in a tolerance and mutual respect between two intermingling culture is not a norm. So far, there has been only two movies: The first one is The Last Samurai and the second one is this movie.
The plot sadly does not portray the the character’s background much. Yet their interaction (especially between the Al Ghazi and the American team) was tangible and were not washed up. And of course, the last battle scene has to be the best gun fight since this side of Michael Mann’s Heat. I totally loved it.
Interesting story with a great action sequences and characters.

When I read the synopsis, I already thought it was going to be an interesting movie. Trying to entwine the Disney world and the real world should make an interesting plot. But doing so, they left out one important thing.
They left out the Disney magic.
I know, a lot of people might not agree, but hear me out.
The gorgeous 2D hand drawn characters are there (More hand drawn features please, Disney?) and the first 20 minute shows how ‘Disney’ this movie is. When we enter the real world, it seems that the writer wanted to create a Disney movie in a ‘real world’ and they seemed to miss a lot. Catch my drift?
It might be funny at first, yet as the plot rolls on, the story began to look predictable and it all starts to seem silly. Like how they want to show ‘girl power’ in this movie was understandable but misplaced because this is a movie Disney movie after all (Oh! Saaave me charming prince!). They should have add more memorable scenes like when Giselle starts singing in the park but there were little to remember this movie with.
It is still a good movie but with half hearted execution.

I don’t really like horror movies but I like thrillers. And this thriller is one of the best scare I got this year.
WARNING! GORE GALORE!
All things considered, this rejected movie script, turned to comic then turned to movie has a very simple plot line. I assumed they cut out a lot of the original plot from the comic, because a lot of the scene seemed rushed. Most are sub plots that shows moral decisions in a crisis. But it was extremely rushed and you can hardly feel the thud when the head fell. And unlike many zombie movie, this survival movie just doesn’t really seem like the character is in a tight situation.
Aside from the minor plot hiccup, the directing was pretty good with great scare scenes. Horror and thriller buff will find this movie worth to check out.

[...] have a fun scary movie? Watch 30 Days of Nights [...]
[...] The plot line in this movie is moved at a pretty good pace with several action scenes scatered through out the movie. One gun battle scene in the guggenheim museum is so rivetting I would dare to compare it with the last gun battle in The Kingdom. [...]
